Self-introduction:

I started my teaching career as an untrained teacher just after completing my O level exams at a local public secondary school. This motivated me to pursue a degree in Biochemistry as I enjoyed working with students in Science subjects.
I pursued a Bachelors\' degree in Biochemistry at Kenyatta University, where I attained Second class honors Upper Division. I taught Biology and Chemistry in a private school for two and a half years before joining the pharmaceutical industry for close to 7 years.
In 2019, I got interested in working with students as a student support and cover teacher at Yew Chung International school, Beijing. This motivated me pursue a Postgraduate certificate in Education (PGCE) at University of Sunderland, U.K where I specialized in Sciences(Biology and Chemistry). Throughout my placement period at Yew Chung International School of Beijing, I supported students with learning difficulties through push-in and pull-out strategies.
I have been teaching Science to lower secondary students in Years 7 and 8. I have also taught Cambridge IGCSE Biology, Chemistry, and some Physics.
During my teaching career I have undergone professional development training that gears towards student-centred learning styles that include a four-part lesson with differentiated tasks as well as monitoring students’ progress and provide feedback.
I have undertaken training in child protection via TES Educare program. In Addition, I have had a chance to run Science Booster club where I supported students to reinforce their mastery of Chemistry and Biology as they prepare for IGCSE exams.
I have also been a form tutor for year students and supported their personal and social needs during tutor time and during house-led sports events. I am confident that my passion for teaching Biology and Chemistry and my reliability, loyalty and integrity would be an asset to your team. I look forward to having an interview during which, I will be better able to articulate these issues as required.
Thank you for this opportunity.
